Big White – A Skier’s Paradise
Big White Ski Resort, located 56 kilometers Southeast of Kelowna, is the third largest resort in BC and a skier’s paradise. The summit is at 2,319m and the hill receives an annual average snowfall of 750 cm. Fifteen lifts take skiers and snowboarders to the 119 designated trails, totalling 105 km of marked runs. There are runs suitable for all skill levels and over 100 qualified instructors for lessons. The average temperature from November to April ranges from -1C in the spring to -9C in the winter; great mild weather to explore the outdoors.
If skiing and snowboarding aren’t for you there are many other great winter activities available; ice climbing tower, tube park, snowmobile tours, ice skating, snowshoeing, dog sledding, horse drawn sleigh rides and cross-country skiing. After a day on the slopes, there are numerous entertainment and dining experiences to choose from; restaurants, lounges, coffee houses, delis, bakeries, cozy pubs and bars.
As the largest totally ski-in, ski-out ski resort in Canada, guests can experience the luxury of stepping straight out onto the slopes from the fantastic range of accommodation. For locals and tourists staying in Kelowna, Bluestar offers an express shuttle bus to the ski hill. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday a bus operates from West Kelowna/Kelowna and the Mission and on Saturday and Sunday from Glenmore and Winfield. Departure times for the buses in the morning are from approximately 7:00 am – 8:30 am and return from Big White for all buses is 4:00 pm.
